David King over All Israel

1 ^aThen all the tribes of Israel came to David at Hebron and ^{▼▼Lit said, saying}said, “Behold, we are ^cyour bone and your flesh. 2 Previously, when Saul was king over us, ^dyou were the one who led Israel ^{▼▼I.e., to battle and in (returning) from battle}out and in. And the Lord said to you, ‘ ^fYou will shepherd My people Israel, and you will be ^ga leader over Israel.’” 3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king at Hebron, and King David ^hmade a covenant with them before the Lord in Hebron; then ⁱthey anointed David king over Israel.
